A selection of Hachette Australia titles are now available as ebooks via Apple’s iBookstore. Hachette Australia managing director Malcolm Edwards has confirmed that this is the first time Hachette Australia titles have been made available as ebooks – they are not currently on sale via Borders/Angus & Robertson powered by Kobo nor in Amazon’s Kindle store.
Edwards said about 100 titles would soon be available via the iBooks app, and future titles would be issued as ebooks simultaneously with print editions.
Here’s a copy of the press release Hachette released this morning:

Malcolm Edwards, Managing Director, commenting on the above said:
“The iBookstore in the US and UK have been a huge success, and it is incredibly exciting that Australian readers can now have a store perfectly tailored for their needs, and that Hachette’s many authors have an innovative new outlet for their works.
We are absolutely delighted that so many of our books will be available on the Australian iBookstore, as we are committed to ensuring readers can enjoy the very best writing whenever, and however, they want to buy and read it.”
